Please join us the afternoon of Tuesday, June 23rd in Minneapolis for the BG-BASE Collections Management Software workshop. 2015 marks the
30-year anniversary of BG-BASE having been in continual use in gardens and herbaria around the world. As the de facto
standard software package for managing botanical and horticultural information, BG-BASE continues to benefit from great
ideas provided by the global user community. Join us as we explore how the application incorporates the principles of Best
Practice for holders of both living and preserved collections.
In this workshop, which will be an abbreviated version of the workshops we hold several times each year in the US and UK, we will
examine documenting collections using all aspects of the software, emphasizing how good documentation leads to good curation and a
maximizing of the use and value of your collections. Throughout, we will demonstrate how to streamline your work using BG-BASE, concentrating
on one of our core beliefs, 'do it once; do it right!'. In particular, scaling and customizing BG-BASE to meet the requirements of
your institution - whether large or small - will be addressed.
Future directions and ongoing initiatives will also be discussed, with ample time allowed for questions, ideas and the free flow
of information among the participants. The workshop will end with a short gathering open to all BG-BASE users to celebrate our
30 years working together, followed by the APGA opening reception immediately afterwards.
Please register for the workshop today. We look forward to seeing you in June!
